The idea for this illustration came while I was watching my cat sleep. He was twitching and making faces and I was sure he was trying to catch a mouse, but to him, catching a mouse is as important as slaying a dragon would be to us. This illustration was done in pen and ink. I had fun intertwining the cats tail with the dragon's tail. The original is 10 x 12 inches.

The winged horse is denoted as having great honour and denote honesty and integrity when used in heraldry today. This Pegasus flies high into the sky, flitting through beams of light shot through the clouds by the sun. A breathtaking sight.

It is said at the time of the great flood God put his Secret Race into a cave and closed it up, where they stayed and multiplied. Perhaps these are the beings who became the Dunaelfin - hill elves, and the field elves, sea elves, Wylfaelfin - wild elves, and the tree elves of Anglo Saxon tales. There is a faerie city called Elfheim, named by the Norse, that was found under an 'Ash Yggdrassil'. There the Liosalfar, who are fairer than the sun, dwell in the branches. The Dolkalfar, who are blacker than pitch, dwell below. The Danish call them Ellefolk, but we call them elves!

Merlin is one of the most widely recognized figures from the myths and legends of Celtic Faerie lore. It is believed by many that he was a real man who prophesied the great kings to come. His figure has been found in many time periods in several magical stories. He is always a great and powerful man, for his wisdom and fantastic magical powers and his incredible life span. It was said that he foresaw the Sword on the Stone which Arthur pulled out.
Illustrated in pen and ink in 1995, this Merlin, or Wizard is a favourite.
