Mirth
This one is painted in oils on an 18" x 24" canvas. I used my husband to model for this Greenman. He's actually on a tree in my front yard. Jim's got this great big smile. He was the only face I could use to try to reproduce the feeling and inspiration I felt when I first saw this crazy character.
There are images of the 'Green Man' all throughout Europe and the British Isles - a man with a leafy face. They were inspired by this funny fellow. He is a mossy being that grows from the bark, reaching into the trunk for sustenance, living in unison with the tree. Though you may think he's a bit of a parasite, the tree enjoys his companionship. These Green Men tend to be chatterboxes who enjoy teasing passersby!
A new painting in my new Faery series. It's painted in oils on an 18" x 24" canvass.
Original Oil Painting - $625
