Tree of Life

It is said at the time of the great flood God put his Secret Race into a cave and closed it up, where they stayed and multiplied. Perhaps these are the beings who became the Dunaelfin - hill elves, and the field elves, sea elves, Wylfaelfin - wild elves, and the tree elves of Anglo Saxon tales. There is a faerie city called Elfheim, named by the Norse, that was found under an 'Ash Yggdrassil'. (It's OK, I can't pronounse it either!) There the Liosalfar, who are fairer than the sun, dwell in the branches. The Dolkalfar, who are blacker than pitch, dwell below. The Danish call them Ellefolk, but we call them elves!
