Portrait of U.S. President Barack O'bama

I had to draw that face. Barack Obama is a man I greatly admire. I believe he is a great man about to do great things. Seriously, I would have quit that job of his before I started! He is grace under pressure.

Of course, when I heard that he had some 'Irish' heritage, I felt even more compelled to draw him. It turns out, President O'Bama is 3% Irish! We're all 3 or 4% something aren't we? Genealogists appear to show that Obama's great-great-great-grandfather, Fulmuth Kearney, was reared in Moneygall, then left for America in 1850, when he was 19.

Celtic knot designs are quite spiritual in nature. They are usually, as this one is, a never-ending organic line, or growth. The one in this drawing spirals from the earth around Obama and out, into the ether. I suppose it represents President Obama's nature, as well as his ability to connect with people.

This original pencil drawing was done onĀ  16" x 20" illustration board. The drawing itself is 11" x 14".
