![]() Olya of the Sky
This original acrylic is painted on 24" x 24" gallery canvas. Painted in 2004.
Olya was in a writing group I went to in Barrie, Ontario. She was writing her moving and beautifully written memoires. Olya was quite talented with words, but even more with languages, as she knew many. You should see in the enlarged image that I've place some 'words' faintly in the painting to represent this part of her powerful character. In many of these "Face of the World" paintings I tried to include something of the character of my willing subjects.
Olya was a survivor of the second world war and was a sensitive spirit. She was full of energy, life and still had a lot of important things to do. I felt compelled to paint her in the swiftly moving, yet soft clowds.
